Eastern Kentucky University has added two new online degrees to its graduate and undergraduate studies programs that will be available in the fall of 2021.
“Students will have two exciting new opportunities to pursue as Eastern Kentucky University launches an online bachelor’s degree in global hospitality and tourism, and an online master’s degree in instructional design and learning technology in the fall of 2021,” said a press release.
Jerry Pogatshnik, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost said the degrees are miles apart in likeness; however, they still give students a new perspective and expertise in what they study.
“Although they are in different disciplines, both degrees provide students with a wide range of skills to help them be agile and adaptive in their respective fields,” Pogatshnik said in a press release.
The Global Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism gives students with a cultural and technical disposition unique skills in the field of hospitality.
According to the press release, “With concentrations in both gastronomic and culinary, tourism and sustainable hospitality, this program prepares culturally competent and tech-savvy graduates for key roles in the ever-evolving and rewarding hospitality field.”
A more methodical attitude is given with the Instruction Design and Learning Technology course. More built to improve education and other workforce through efficient and practical education.
“The Master’s Program in Educational Design and Learning Technology provides a systematic approach to improving learning outcomes in education and the workforce by developing consistent, high-quality educational products and experiences,” the press release said.
Both degrees will be attainable online and one factor that will make classes at EKU easier is the addition of free textbooks to students at the start of the upcoming fall semester.
According to the press release, “EKU’s new BookSmart program will provide all undergraduate students with free textbooks by the fall of 2021 and free applications for both undergraduate and graduate programs.”
